Angels Watching Over You, a Watertown-based company providing holistic care and services for the elderly, has spread its wings to a new geographical area with the opening of an office in Trumbull.

Meeting the needs of elderly clients in private homes, hospitals and convalescent or assisted living facilities, Angels Watching Over You started as a home based business in 1996. On June 18, 1999, President and Owner Lisa Taccardi moved the business to an office at 686 Main St. in Watertown. Now, seven years later (almost to the day), Ms. Taccardi hosted an open house June 19 to celebrate the opening of their first satellite office at 940 White Plains Road, Trumbull.

The Trumbull Chamber of Commerce and Bridgeport Regional Business Council, along with state Rep. T.R. Rowe of the 123rd District.

"Northern Fairfield County was an attractive area to consider because of the dense population and high concentration of people over age 65," said Ms. Taccardi. "As our elderly population grows and needs more care, Angels Watching Over You can provide the services that allow them to stay at home with personalized care for a reasonable cost."

Angels Executive Director Ellen Andrews-White said, "We did a comprehensive study of the towns surrounding Bridgeport and found there to be twice the number of elderly compared to the area we have been serving in great Waterbury. There is a great need for our services there."

Angels Watching Over You provides certified nurse's aides, companions, homemakers and live-in care providers to assist with activities of daily living that include errands, bathing, medication monitoring and meal planning and preparation. The company also coordinates special services ranging from health care management to financial services.

In addition to seven managerial and administrative staff, the company has a pool of about 70 caregivers and professionals in the greater Waterbury area, and will be building a similar network to service clients from the Trumbull office. Angels Watching Over You will continue to serve the communities in greater Waterbury, making the Watertown facility its corporate office. Ms. Taccardi says the company will also continue its holistic approach to care and offer the extra time and attention to listen and care about clients.

"My focus is 'what's going on in these people's hearts? What's going on in their spirit?,'" Ms. Taccardi said.

An active member of the Watertown-Oakville Chamber of Commerce, Ms. Taccardi recently completed a two-year term as the organization's president and has already been accepted to the Board of Directors of the Trumbull Chamber of Commerce, an affiliate of the Bridgeport Regional Business Council.
